Every student chooses something they genuinely care about and sees it through. It might be a business, a film, a piece of research, a build, or a campaign.
Mentors help them scope the work, plan it, and keep going when it gets difficult. The value is in choosing something, owning it, and finishing it.

Every student is known by name, and by how they learn.
Wellbeing at ROAR is structural. It sits in the timetable, in the class sizes, and in the way every mentor works with every student, every day.

Every student is paired with a mentor who follows their academic progress and their wellbeing together, and who is your family's consistent point of contact through the year.
Connect Hour
Every day opens and closes with structured mentor time. Students set priorities, reflect on progress, and work through the social and emotional learning themes that run across the term. Nobody drifts through the day unnoticed.
One-to-one when it matters
Mentors meet each student individually through the term, and any student can request a conversation whenever they need one. Concerns surface early rather than at the end of term.

Connect Hour
The day begins with structured mentor time. Students clarify priorities, set goals, and prepare for focused learning.
Power Hours
A protected block for academic learning in small groupsto develop deeper understanding and mastery.
Skill Hours
Entirely hands-on. Lower Secondary students rotate through Skills Exploration. Upper Secondary students work on their chosen skills pathway, building an industry-aligned portfolio.
Connect Hour
The day closes with guided reflection. Students review progress, work through wellbeing themes, and set clear next steps.
The balance is always the same. The order is not. Some cohorts begin with Power Hours, others begin with skills.

Friday opens with a check in between students and their dedicated mentor the same way every other days do. The rhythm never changes.
Movement, fitness and team activity
Dedicated time to move, build fitness and coordination, and play as a team.
Practical capability for adult life
From personal finance and independent travel to first aid, and career readiness, taught in real settings wherever possible.
Work that belongs to the student
Uninterrupted time on something they chose themselves, with a mentor to help them scope it, plan it, and finish it.
Connect Hour
Students close the week by reviewing what they achieved and what they want to carry into next week.
How Students Progress
Students may join throughout the year. Placement is based on readiness, not age.
Entry
Personalised Placement
Students complete placement assessments and a three-day trial, so our mentors understand each learner's academic readiness, learning behaviours, strengths and support needs before a place is confirmed.
Years 7–9 · Ages 13–15
Lower Secondary
Students build strong academic foundations while exploring a wide range of hands-on disciplines through Skills Exploration, discovering what they enjoy and where they excel before choosing a pathway.
Years 10–11 · Ages 16–18
Upper Secondary
Students continue to work on their academic learning, preparing themselves with exam tips and answering techniques to better prepare for standardized exams. Applied projects, portfolio development and industry-aligned learning prepare them for what comes next.

A checkpoint consultation is held with parents and students before choosing a skills pathway to ensure the chosen pathway is appropriate and well aligned to the student's goals, strengths, and aspirations. This process helps us map the right skills pathway forward together with you and your child.
